Installing on Android
- Tap Download above. Chrome will warn that this file type can harm your device — that warning appears for every APK. Choose Download anyway.
- Open the downloaded file. Android will say the source is not allowed to install apps; tap Settings and turn on Allow from this source.
- Tap Install, then open the app and sign in.
These warnings are Android telling you the app did not come from the Play Store, which is true — it is handed out directly to a short invite list. If you would like to confirm you got the real file, the sha256 shown next to each build is the one to check against.
iPhone
Not yet. Apple does not allow the same kind of direct install, so iOS builds have to be registered against each device individually. If you want to be on the iPhone list, send Matt your device UDID and it will show up here when ready.

About this
Taco Mac's Brewniversity backend goes down on a schedule — six windows a day, roughly 28 minutes each, which works out to about 88% availability. If you have ever opened the official app at the wrong moment and watched it spin, that is what you were seeing.
This app keeps its own copy of the menu, so it does not care. A job pulls the catalog, the taproom list, per-location inventory and events every fifteen minutes and stores a compressed snapshot. The app reads that snapshot from your phone, which means it opens instantly and keeps working when the source does not.
What we hold
Shared menu data only — the same beer list every customer sees. No profiles, no drink history, no rewards progress, no check-ins. We never see or store your Brewniversity password. Your own account data is fetched by your phone, with your own login, and stays there.
The beer notes
A lot of catalog entries have a description like "Classic Amber Lager" or nothing at all. Where that happens, a tasting note is written ahead of time from the facts already in the catalog — brewery, style, ABV, hops, malts, origin — and labelled AI. Notes the brewery wrote are labelled brewery and left alone. Nothing is generated while you are using the app; it is all precomputed, so it works offline like everything else.
Who can see it
Only Google accounts on a short invite list. Everything here — the app download, the menu data, this page — checks that on every request. If access is removed it stops working on the next tap, not whenever a session happens to expire.
